Carroll County's Inaugural Restaurant Week: Pasta at New York J&P Pizza
Sampling the fare at local restaurants during Carroll County's inaugural restaurant week.
J&P has six locations, including one in Eldersburg located at 6252 Sykesville Road, just south of Route 26.
The menu offers pizza, pasta and subs along with wings and salads.
"Pizza and pasta are very popular," says manager Lisa Herche taking a break from the lunch crowd Tuesday.
It is easy to see that pizza and pasta are big—oregano and red pepper sit alongside the flowers on every table.
The special for the week starts with soup or a small salad. For the entrée, you choose your own pasta shape and sauce. For dessert, select any item on the dessert menu.
I started with the small salad and house dressing, followed by broccoli, garlic and olive oil on fettuccine, which came with garlic bread. My waitress was Meghan Boersig.
I was stuffed and took my dessert home. The selection was cheesecake, chocolate cake, Italian cannoli, carrot cake or tiramisu.
The special for the week is $15.11.
When asked why J&P got involved with the week, Herche said, "Since Frank Illiano took the store back over in March we are under new management, so we are trying to promote and doing whatever we can to promote business."
J&P offers carryout as well as wine and beer at the Eldersburg location.
They can be found online here. Their hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday the hours are 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Eldersburg store can be reached at 410-552-4400.
There are seven local restaurants in Eldersburg and Sykesville taking part in the first Carroll County Restaurant Week.
