County Posts New Airport Expansion Information on Website
As the Board of County Commissioners gears up to vote on the controversial expansion of the Carroll County Regional Airport, new information on the project has been posted on the county's website.
In a recent open session, the five Carroll County commissioners discussed the expanion of the airport at length. The session, that lasted almost three hours, included comments from citizens.
The previous board of commissioners made a master plan that included the expansion of the airport. The estimated $74 million expansion includes the purchase of 13 acres of land and an increase in the size of the runway. If the current commissioners choose to move forward with the expansion project, Carroll County will have to put up approximately $2.8 million for the project.
Some of the information presented in the recent open meeting, including discussions that had taken place with representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration as well as other stakeholders, is now available to the public on the Carroll County government website.
Information posted includes a summary of the findings of Commissioners Roush, Frazier and Howard. There are questions and answers from David Jones of Delta Airport Consultants, and Joe McKelvey, the Carroll County Regional Airport Manager, as well as information from county staff.
The Board of Commissioners will vote on this issue on Thursday, Jan. 26. In a news release, the commissioners encouraged anyone who would like to comment on the proposal to contact them by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 410-386-2043.
