Eldersburg Patch Week In Review

In case you missed it, notable headlines from Dec. 19 through Dec. 25.

Christmas week brought many stories of people stepping up and volunteering time for others as well as stories on several individual accomplishments in the area.

This week looked at a local Leo club involving two local high schools who spent the week shopping and coordinating Christmas for eight local families using their resources to help those in need.

We also interviewed a student who recently won an International award for her volunteering efforts in high school.

In school news, Carroll County Public Schools recently announced several teachers who achieved national certification and we also looked at local middle school students who participated in a mock trial with local politicians.

In other accomplishments, a local police lieutenant became only the second tenured member of the Westminster Police Department to graduate from the FBI National Academy.

We also featured a local support group that's making life easier for those suffering from traumatic brain injuries.

Also this week, Eldersburg witnessed history with the first lunar total eclipse to occur during Winter Solstice since 1638.

And if you were looking for a toasted sub in the area, we had a story on why it just got a little harder to find.

Basketball took over sports this week with complete coverage always available right here on Patch.

And with Christmas yesterday we looked at how you could keep track of Santa as he made his rounds Christmas Eve.

With the New Year around the corner we want to hear from you. What are your New Year resolutions? What do you what to see on Patch in the coming months? What are your best memories of 2010?
