Downtown Syesville has a lot of history packed into a few blocks, from the Old Main Line railway and Baldwin's Station to the Town House on Main Street

Signs of Sykesville's history, dating back to pre-Civil War years, are still visible with 19th century buildings lining the streets and Victorian-style houses in the distant hills.

Do you have a favorite spot in Sykesville that you plan to visit soon? Tell us in the comments.

On August 18th, I will be at the Amazing Baby and Child Expo held right on the streets of the town from 11-4 p.m. The town of Sykesville will be the event host who is excited to sponsor and promote the expo. It's a great opportunity for businesses and the community alike with lots of activities and fun, entertainment and vendors alike! For more information or to be an exhibitor, sponsor or advertiser, contact 410-549-5707 and ask for Karen.

Baldwin's Station is definitely my favorite spot. My husband and I got married there, and we love going back there to dine.

It's St. Paul's UMC, not St. John's

Hi Judy, I have corrected the caption to correctly show it is St. Paul's. Thank you!

Thanks Karen and Alisa! I have yet to try Baldwin's, though I want to, especially after writing this story: http://eldersburg.patch.com/articles/baldwin-s-station-wins-maryland-s-favorite-restaurant Also, Judy, I've asked a reporter to check on the error you flagged, thanks for doing so.

Hi! This is Mona, co-owner of Jams Music Center in Eldersburg. Jams will be running a Sykesville Summer concert series right on Main Street in the pavilion! Nice grassy area behind the pavilion for a picnic supper with wonderful live music for the whole family to enjoy. The stores will stay open and offer food and drink specials! I will schedule excellent Live music (the best in the Region!) every Thursday night from 6p-8p, beginning the First Thursday night in July through August...Please join us and see you there!

The Old Main Line Visitor Center and Post Office, located in front of the Pullman Car on Oklahoma Ave, is open M-F, 9 to 5 and Sat, 9-1pm. All are invited to stop in and browse, pick up local info and literature, purchase local souvenirs, and get your postage stamps and mail packages. This is not your typical post office - you will have to come and see for yourself.
