Local Event Focuses on Alcohol Awareness
The community is invited to a presentation that aims to raise awareness about alcohol-related problems, particularly with youth and drunk drivers.
The Greater Taylorsville Area Citizens Council is hosting a presentation on the problems of alcohol in the community on Monday, Oct. 8. The event will be held at the Taylorsville United Methodist Church, 4356 Ridge Road in Mount Airy, at 7 p.m.
The presentation will focus on raising awareness about the effects, problems, and counter actions to the abuse of alcohol, particularly with youth and drunk drivers.
Cheryl Hammond, the mother of Jessica Belknap, will be speaking about Jessica and "Jessica's Story." The panel also includes Phil and Cindy Mullikin of Catherine's Cause and Carol Mullen, head of the newly formed Carroll County Coalition Against Underaged Drinking, Binge Drinking and Alcohol Related Crashes.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
