Local Lion Clubs Perform Vision Screenings on Young Children

The Lions performed vision screening on young children last week.

On Jan. 24 and 25, seven Lions from the Freedom District Lions Club and three Lions from the South Carroll Lioness-Lions Clubs performed vision screening on 2-4 year old children at the Ward's Chapel United Methodist Church preschool in Randallstown.

A total of 65 children were screened, with 55 passing the tests given to them. The parents of ten children were notified that their child might need corrective eye care and it was recommended that the children be seen by a medical eye professional.

The vision screening was also used to train six additional Lions Club members.  These newly trained members were taught the various stages of the process during the screening so additional members will be available for subsequent screenings.

Four more pre-school locations will be visited over the next two months. After all scheduled screenings have been completed, more than 200 children will have gone though the sight saving project this year.
