Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Taneytown Robbery, Shooting

The shooter pleaded guilty this week.

After pleading guilty to armed robbery and the use of a firearm in a felony or violent crime, Dalonte Shea Dunston, 21, of Frederick, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a shooting in a Taneytown home in 2011, according to a Carroll County Times report.

As previously reported by Patch, Dunston was charged for his involvement in the December 2011 armed robbery and shooting at a home on Old Taneytown Road. According to police, five individuals were charged in the drug-related robbery and shooting.

Police report that during the robbery, a resident of the home, Alan J. Kent, was shot in the leg and struck in the head with an expandable baton. He was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

According to police reports, Kent's dog was also shot during the robbery.
