Sheriff Investigates ATM Card Theft
Carroll County Sheriff's officers look for two suspects.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about two suspects who purchased more than $400 worth of gift cards and other merchandise at three Eldersburg businesses using a debit card belonging to a Sykesville man, according to police reports.
The victim left his ATM card in a local ATM machine after a transaction on Sept. 8, police said. It is believed the suspects recovered the card from the machine and made six purchases over the next three days before the victim discovered the card missing and closed the account, police said.
The following transactions were made by the suspects. See attached photos of suspects.
- On Sept. 9 at 7:45 p.m., the suspect purchased $2 worth of merchandise from the Shopper’s Food Warehouse located at 6300 Georgetown Boulevard, Eldersburg.
- On Sept. 9 at 7:51 p.m., the suspect purchased $36 in merchandise from the Martins Food Market located at 1320 Londontown Boulevard, Eldersburg. A second purchase of $284 worth of merchandise was made from the Martins Food Market a few minutes later at 8:07 p.m.
- On Sept. 11, beginning at 4:49 p.m. and again at 8:38 p.m., the suspect made two separate gas purchases totaling $1 each from Eldersburg Gas Stations.
- At 10:07 p.m. on Sept. 11, the suspect returned to the Martins Food Market in Eldersburg and made a $109 purchase.
The suspects are described as white males, in their early-to-mid 20s, approximately 5-feet-10 inches to 6-feet tall, with thin builds and dark hair. See attached photos.
