Victim in Eldersburg Stabbing Identified
Two co-workers from New York allegedly argued while on the night shift Tuesday, and one is accused of stabbing the other to death.
The Maryland State Police have identified the man stabbed to death at an Eldersburg grocery store late Tuesday as Bergari Zardiashuili, 22, of Brooklyn, NY.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore conducted an autopsy Thursday and determined Zardiashuili’s death “was a homicide caused by multiple sharp-force injuries,” according to a state press release.
Zardiashuili and his co-worker, Zamani A. Lawson, 26, of Jamaica, NY, reportedly began arguing before the two had a physical altercation while on a cleaning shift at Martin’s supermarket, police said.
Police said the incident occurred shortly before midnight, and officers arrived to find Lawson standing outside the store with blood on his shirt. Zardiashuili was found in a storage area with multiple stab wounds in his torso, police said.
The police arrested Lawson and charged him with second degree murder and first and second degree assault, according to the press release Thursday.
Lawson was being held until an initial appearance before a court commissioner, according to WBAL-TV.
He is in custody at the Carroll County Detention Center, according to the release.
