Carroll Hospital Center is celebrating five years of being a smoke– and tobacco–free environment on Thursday, November 15, the same day as the 37th anniversary of The Great American Smokeout. To mark the occasion and recognize The Great American Smokeout, the hospital will be offering a variety of activities and programs to smokers and tobacco users to help them stop the habit for good. They include:

• An informational display in the hospital’s main lobby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to educate smokers on the health risks of smoking and tobacco use, and how to quit.  Visitors will also be able to participate in a quiz and enter to win great prizes including a hot air balloon ride, a Kindle Fire® and a massage.

• A free quite smoking walk-in clinic between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. inside the hospital’s Learning Center Classrooms. Attendees will receive vouchers for nicotine replacement therapy or Chantix®. This clinic is sponsored by the Carroll County Health Department Cigarette Restitution Fund Program.

• Free auricular (ear) acupuncture mini-treatments to help people quit smoking and deal with stress, offered at The Women’s Place.  These services will be available on a walk-in basis between noon and 2 p.m.

• And, a guided imagery session to help people stop smoking through meditation, held between 1:15 and 2 p.m. in The Learning Center Conference Room.
