The JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra, a non-profit community group of area students and adult volunteers who help raise funds and awareness for area charities, hosted a concert to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project on June 22nd at Liberty High School in Eldersburg. Through this event, the orchestra raised $10,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project by donating 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships, raffles, and direct donations to the charity. Last year the orchestra hosted a similar concert, and between the two shows they have now raised over $20,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project!
The orchestra presented a check for $10,000 at the Wounded Warrior Project Washington D.C. Office on August 5th. In attendance at the presentation were JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra board members and representatives from the Wounded Warrior Project.
The JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra is based in Eldersburg and is made up of area students in 6th through 12th grade and adult volunteers who perform as vocalist, or string, brass, woodwind or rhythm section player in a “rock-star” style. Under the leadership of Joey Dundore, a music teacher in Carroll County, they refine an ambitious set of Rock, Pop, Motown, and Jazz favorites as they prepare for live shows to benefit charitable causes.
