Fun Run Proceeds Presented to Youth Service Bureau

On July 8th, 2013, representatives from The City of Westminster’s Recreation and Parks department delivered a check to Carroll County Youth Service Bureau for $903.00. This sum represents half of the net proceeds from Carroll County’s 13th annual “Flower and Jazz 5k Fun Run” this past May, which the two organizations partner in coordinating each year.  The event features a free 200-yard dash for all children aged 6 and under, a free 1-mile ‘Fun Run’ for children aged 7 and up, and a 5K Run/Walk.  The event is held along the lovely Wakefield Valley Community Trail and includes both a medal and an awards ceremony.

“Westminster’s Recreation and Parks is extremely grateful to our friends at Youth Service Bureau for their partnership in making our event a huge success.   Both our organizations would like to thank this year’s event sponsors and participants for their support!” said Abby Gruber, Director of Recreation and Parks.

Carroll County Youth Service Bureau has provided outpatient mental health services in Carroll County since 1972 and offers a range of treatments and programs for children, adults, and families in Carroll County.  The Westminster City Recreation and Parks Department is dedicated to providing citizens with safe and enjoyable recreational activities, events and park services, while promoting health and well-being.
