Much of Maryland is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas included in the watch are: the city of Baltimore, plus Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
The main threat from the watch is the possibility of large hail and damaging winds.
The Maryland weather forecast is calling for a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, with some severe storms. Tonight, expect thunderstorms mainly before 9 p.m.
Look for a 70 percent change of rain again on Wednesday, gradually decreasing to a 30 percent chance of showers on Thursday. But the gloomy skies should give way to a beautiful weekend with sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s across the region.
