Venturing Crew 202 was founded 13 years ago by five teenagers interested in adventure and the environment. Today, the Westminster-based group has grown in membership and has been nationally recognized for its many environmental achievements.

While this isn’t the first time Venturing Crew 202 has sponsored a tree planting event, they are planning for this to be their largest event thus far.

The crew is hoping for a turn-out of 500 people to help plant more than 2,000 trees.

Beyond the tree-planting, there will be electrofishing, examples of alternate energy, electric cars available to see and more.

Environmental education will begin after lunch and is designed to teach kids and adults alike about reducing their carbon footprint and how the actions of today can affect future generations.  Kids are invited to enjoy live animals that will be in attendance while adults can appreciate tips on how to save money on their energy bills.

All are welcome to attend this event and are encouraged to bring a drink, lunch, a shovel and gloves and any friends or family who may be interested.

For more information or to RSVP contact: crew202tree@gmail.com; reservations are requested but not required to attend.
