Chili Cook-off and Beer Festival in Sykesville Saturday

Get in the fall spirit this weekend with chili and beer at a family-friendly event in Sykesville.

If you like homemade chili and locally brewed beer, Main Street Sykesville is the place to be Saturday.

On Saturday, Sept. 8 from noon to 5 p.m. Sykesville will host the inaugural Sykesville Chili Cook off and Beer Festival on lower Main Street.

This is a family-friendly event with food, local beer, live music, children's activities and a variety of vendors. A chili tasting kit costs $5 and will allow purchasers to taste all chilis entered in the contest.

"It's a great way to kick off fall and football season and to involve the public as well as letting everyone be able to get together with good chili, music and beer right before the first full Sunday of football," said Ivy Wells, Sykesville town manager. "Our Main Street is a great gathering place and having events brings everyone together. This is what living in a small town is all about."
