Father’s Day Weekend Fun in Carroll County

Here are some fun things to do around town with the family this weekend.

 

  • Picnic in the Woods

Where/When: Saturday, June 16, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., 1810 Benedict Road, Westminster.

Why go: An evening of food, fun, music, paddle boat rides, moon bounce, horseshoes, bonfire and more! Local nonprofit Dads Works will benefit from the event.

Bring your own lawn chair or blanket, a dish to share (but not dessert) and dancing shoes. Hot Dogs, beverages and amenities provided. The cost is $50 for the whole family. This will also benefit Sylvia's Acorn, a fund of the Community Foundation of Carroll County. This fund helps at-risk and low income families in crisis as identified by Human Services Programs, Inc.

Where/When:  Fort McHenry National Monument & Historic Shrine, 2400 E Fort Ave

Baltimore, Maryland 21230-5393, Wednesday, June 13 – Tuesday, June 19.

Why go:  ‘Star-Spangled Sailabration’ is the national launch of the War of 1812 bicentennial featuring an international maritime and air festival in the Baltimore region and the Chesapeake Bay.

This week-long event will include dozens of OpSail tall ships and naval war ships, the premiere of a new symphonic work, and the Star-Spangled Air Show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Pricing: FREE (*Some tours or events may have a fee.)

Where/When:  Piney Run Park, 30 Martz Rd., Sykesville, Maryland 21784, 6:00 a.m. – Noon

Why go:  First of three largemouth bass fishing tournaments. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Pricing:  Tournament fees are $15 per angler. $8/boat launch fee applies for private boats; vehicle entrance fee is waived. Rental boats are available for $20 per boat.
