Annual Taste of Eldersburg Brings Food, Fun, and Fundraising Together

The event in May features several local restaurants.

Enjoy new food? Want to help raise money for the community? The ninth annual Taste of Eldersburg to benefit the Freedom Area Recreation Council will be held  May 6 at the , bringing together several area restaurants and vendors for one evening of food and fun. 

"This is a chance for the community to come together to not only support a great cause, the Freedom Area Recreation Council, but also to support the local restaurants and businesses that are vital to our community," said Tracy Cox, Freedom Fitness coordinator. 

Freedom Area Recreation Council is organizing the event with sponsors including WCBM Radio, PMC Printing and Graphics, Innovative Security Systems, Transitions Sykesville, Hutchinson's Florist, and Salerno's Restaurant and Catering.

As of April 5, the following area businesses have agreed to participate in the annual event:

  • Remax Realty (providing soda and water) 

Funds raised at the event provide training and support for new programs and equipment for children and adults, in addition to subsidizing existing programs.

"The event itself also raises awareness of how many different programs there are available through FARC," Cox said. 

The Taste of Eldersburg takes months of preparation to put together, with Cox heading the event logistics each year. 

"We start stategizing in December, inviting the restaurants, communicating to them, promoting them, putting together all the necessary paperwork for the Health Department, securing the venue, pulling together silent auction items, and last but not least, selling tickets," she said. "This will be the first year that tickets are available online."

The event will be held on May 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.freedomfitness.info/events for $25, or in person for $29 in advance, and $35 at the door. All food and drink is included in the price of the ticket.
