Carroll County's Inaugural Restaurant Week: Grilled Cheese & Co. Serves Up a Deal

Patch visits Grilled Cheese & Co. on day four of restaurant week

Carroll County Restaurant Week continued Wednesday as Eldersburg Patch visited

Patch is sampling the menu at the seven local restaurants taking part in the first Carroll County Restaurant Week.

Grilled Cheese opened earlier this year in the former Scoops ice cream store at 577 Johnsville Road in the Johnsville Station center.

"The first location started out in Catonsville. They have been open about a year and they opened this location in April," said shift leader Sera Mannarelli.

One of the highlights of eating at Grilled Cheese is you can see your sandwich being made.

For restaurant week they are offering two sandwiches of your choice, two orders of fries (shoe string or sweet potato) and two fountain soda's for $15.11.

My fiancée Shirley ordered a veggie delight and sweet potato fries, while I had the blue ox and sweet potato fries.

The restaurant week deal is a good one. The regular price would be more than $21.

The restaurant offers several original recipe sandwiches including the BCT made with layers of aged cheddar, crumbled smoked bacon and freshly diced tomatoes and the Crabby Melt made with melted monterey jack cheese on top of homemade Crabby Dip loaded with sweet claw crab meat.

When asked what the most popular sandwich is at the restaurant Mannarelli said, "I would probably say the crabby melt is the most popular."

There are a few tables outside, so you can enjoy your meal inside or out. The menu is on the wall on the right as you enter and they offer onsite eating or carry-out.

When asked about Grilled Cheese and restaurant week, Mannarelli said "I think this is a first for the restaurant. I don’t think they have the opportunity to do restaurant week in Catonsville. They do a lot of local festivals and stuff like that."

They also cater and take part in fundraisers.

They will soon have four locations Catonsville, Ravens Walk, Eldersburg and Light Street in Baltimore.

Grilled Cheese is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week and can be reached at 443-920-3238 or www.ilovegrilledcheese.com
