Eldersburg Curves Shuts Down Suddenly

Several area Curve locations have closed over the past few months.

Curves, the franchise health club and fitness center for women has closed its . 

The club closed suddenly over the past weekend, one of several Curves clubs in the past year.

This is also the second women's fitness club in Eldersburg to close in the past year following BodyShapes for Women in Feb. 2010.

According to the Wall Street Journal, one third of the chain closed locations in the United States over the past three years. The article states that Curves had 5,208 franchises open in 2010 when it once had 7,748 sites in 2007. 

Curves offers women a complete cardio and strength training workout in 30 minutes with more than 4 million members since its creation in 1992.

Curves currently has one club in Ellicott City, one in Catonsville and three in Columbia.
