Eldersburg Kmart Saved in First Round of Cuts

The store did not make the list of locations set to close by Sears Holding Corp.

The Eldersburg , located in the Carrolltown Mall, was saved from the first round of stores to be closed by Sears Holding Corp., with more cuts and announcements possibly to come. 

The company published a list of 79 Kmart and Sears stores to be closed on their website Thursday afternoon.

This is only the first round of cuts, with the possibility of the list reaching 100 to 120 stores.

The  located at 7200 Baltimore National Pike in is the only Maryland store slated to be closed. 

After a disappointing year, Sears Holding Corp. announced Tuesday that it is closing more than 100 Kmart and Sears stores, according to a company statement.

The closings are aimed at “marginally performing” stores and are expected to generate $140 to $170 million of cash as the net inventory in these stores is sold, according to a company statement.
