Eldersburg Restaurant Owner to Open Second Plazeulas

Paul Loza will open restaurant's second location later this year in Edgewater.

Paul Loza, owner of  is opening his second location in May and is currently finishing up the permitting process.

He said the decision was made to open a location in Edgewater after noticing his restaurant El Salto in Brooklyn Park was attracting a lot of customers from the area.

“We have customers that drive all the way from this area to our Brooklyn Park location,” he said. “So we wanted to bring it a little closer to them.”

Loza said that despite the different name, his customers can expect the same experience they have enjoyed at El Salto.

“We want people to know that it’s the same guys who run El Salto,” he said. “It will be the same food, same atmosphere, same everything, just under a different name.”

The restaurant has a long way to go before it will be ready to start serving customers delicious Mexican dishes. The building that formerly housed a KFC has been completely gutted. Construction on the new interior has begun, but there is a lot of work left to do. Loza said he is still finalizing his building plans but is sure the new restaurant will feature ample seating and vibrant, colorful decorations.

The menu at Plazuelas will offer all the same favorites currently available at El Salto in Brooklyn Park, Loza said, including chiles rellenos, fajitas and enchiladas to comarones borrachos (drunken shrimp) and mole ranchero. The bar will feature a number of Mexican beers and sodas as well as several specialty margaritas. A children’s menu will be available, along with a number of sweet treats like fried ice cream and sopapillas.

Loza said he was eager to open the new restaurant soon and believes it will be a great addition to the area. “Nothing compares to it around here,” he said. “It will be the most authentic Mexican food around.”
