Sykesville Business Advances In 'InvestMaryland Challenge'

Contineo Robotics is one of 62 Maryland companies moving to the next round of the "early stage business" competition.

A Sykesville business is one of 71 start-up companies that have been been selected to move to the next round of judging in the State’s inaugural InvestMaryland Challenge.

Founded in 2009, Contineo Robotics LLC is "focused on achieving improved injury prevention and rehabilitation outcomes through the application of dual-use technologies," according to the company website.

The InvestMaryland Challenge is a national competition that gives early-stage businesses a chance to vie for one of three $100,000 grand prizes and showcase themselves to potential investors. The semi-finalists were selected from more than 250 applications from across Maryland and around the U.S. according to a news release from The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED).

More than 60 business leaders from successful companies throughout Maryland are judging the entries, and more than 30 finalists will be invited to present their ideas March 5 in face-to-face interviews with industry-specific judging panels. The grand prizes will be awarded on April 15.
