Photos: Relay for Life Prevails Over Weather

The annual fundraiser at Liberty High is organized through the American Cancer Society to honor both victims and survivors and to raise research awareness.

Participants of this year's Relay for Life for Freedom Area took to the track Friday after being delayed by across Maryland, with the night the event was first scheduled.

This time the air was clear and mild for the night of walking and camping out at Liberty High, which organizers spruced up with a "Broadway" theme. Belle Musique played the National Anthem while childrens had their choice between a water balloon toss, a sing-off contest, a midnight pizza and partycupcake wars, among other activities.

The fundraiser, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, was the eighth annual event for the Freedom area. Those in attendance were reminded of four words: "celebrate," "remember" and "fight back."
