1. Name Your New Park!

The deadline is Sunday, Jan. 15 to submit your name for Carroll County's newest parl. The 32 acre park site is located on Crest Lane opposite Westminster Baptist Church near Hook Road in Westminster. Simply e-mail your suggestion, along with your contact information and the reason why you chose that name to ccrec@ccg.carr.org with the subject line "Name Your New Park." The winner will receive a prize valued at $50. 

2. Local Student Named to Dean's List at Elon University

Courtney Paige Vaughn, daughter of Harry and Nancy Vaughn of Sykesville has been named to the Dean's List for the 2011 fall semester at Elon University.

The Dean's List is composed of students with no grade below a B- minus and a grade point average of at least 3.50 in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

3. War Letters

Members of Thespian Society, the honors society for drama, will perform J. Robert Wilkins’ play War Letters at Liberty High School on tonight at 7 p.m. Find more information here

4. Film Showing: Antonia's Line

Winner of the Academy Award for best Foreign Film, this whimsical film tells the story of a Dutch matron who oversees a close knit, Matriarchal community where feminism and liberalism thrive. Find more information . 

5. Today's Forecast

The National Weather Service calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 37 degrees Friday afternoon, changing to mostly cloudy skies with a low of around 22 degrees Friday evening.
