Eldersburg Man Charged With Thefts From Vehicles in Brimfield, Hilltop and Clipper Hill

The thefts took place in the early morning hours on Friday, Nov. 19.

Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies have charged an Eldersburg man with stealing items from 16 cars in the communities of Brimfield, Hilltop and Clipper Hill early Friday morning, according to a press release.

Andrew Joseph Reier, 25, of Eldersburg was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Friday and is charged with theft, possession of Heroin and driving on a suspended license, according to the release.

Early Friday morning, a local resident reported a suspicious vehicle to a Sheriff’s Deputy investigating a theft from a vehicle on Friday Nov. 19. A second deputy patrolling the area located and stopped the vehicle traveling a short distance from the scene.

As the deputy stopped the vehicle, two passengers fled on foot. A Police K9 Team from the Howard County Police Department responded to assist deputies with the search for the fleeing passengers, however they were not located and remain at large.

The driver was later identified as Reier, who was arrested without incident. Several cellular telephones belonging to area residents were recovered from the front seat of the vehicle.

Reier was released by the District Court Commissioner on personal recognizance pending trial. The Sheriff’s Office investigation continues and additional charges are pending.
