Exploring Issues in Eldersburg: Traffic Fatalities

Some area roads may be more dangerous than you think.

With traffic increasing over the holidays, it's time to look at the safety of area roads in Eldersburg and Sykesville.

The map above, provided as a public service by ITO World Ltd, uses data supplied by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to map fatalities on the road.

According to the map, from the intersection of Old Washington Road and Sykesville Road, to the intersection of Sykesville Road and Route 40, there have been 17 deaths since 2002 with ages ranging from 9 to 79.

On Liberty Road, from the Liberty Reservoir to Old Washington Road, there have been 10 deaths since 2003 with ages ranging from 16 to 81.
