The Carroll County Farm Museum Holds "An Old World Country Christmas"

The 2011 tour offered visitors a glimpse of the past.

The theme for this year’s holiday tour at the Carroll County Farm Museum was "An Old World Country Christmas."

Each room was decorated in period holiday decorations. The front porch and hallway was Victorian traditional Christmas, the parlor celebrated Germany, the study had Scotland/Ireland decor, the master bedroom celebrated Poland, the children’s room was Swedish, the dining room was in honor of England and the kitchen looked as though it was from Germany.

Many of the customs we celebrate today at Christmas come from the Victorian era.

Santa sat in the log cabin, while holiday music was heard around the grounds, and mule-pulled rides gave visitors a look at an "Old World Country Christmas" on the weekend. Many of the Living History Center rooms were open to show off workers in the traditional arts like blacksmithing and broom making.

Make sure to pickup a program for the event as there are holiday recipes from the countries to make at home.
