Five Things You Need to Know Today: August 23

Read these five things to stay on top of local news and get you prepared for the day.

1. The is holding an open session meeting today starting at 1:30 p.m. The agenda includes: public comment, MACO follow-up, Carroll County Environmental Principles and Plan Maryland Resolution Discussion and Adoption. 

2.  is seeking new members for the upcoming season. The Choir will perform Kodaly's Laudes Organi and additional works for choir and organ on November 20. Rehearsals are open to all voice ranges and no audition is required. Find more information here. 

3. The is holding an "Around the World" program focusing on other cultures starting at 2 p.m. This month's program will feature Brazil and is open to ages 7 through 11.

4. The is ages 12 to 17 wanting to earn service hours. Projects include preparing for story time, pulling library materials from the shelves and more. One hour sessions are held twice each month.

5. It's cooling down slightly out there. Today's forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 80 degrees, according to The National Weather Service.
