3. Make Strides Against Breast Cancer

The American Cancer Society is recruiting a core of volunteers to serve as the planning committee for its inaugural , a walk to benefit the organization's breast cancer programs for patients and caregivers, research, education and advocacy. The walk will take place on Oct. 9 at Watkins Park. Anyone interested in joining the committee is invited to attend their next planning meeting held at Mount Airy Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.
4. Only Four Days Left to Dine at a Discount
The inaugural ends Sunday. There are seven restaurants in the Eldersburg/Sykesville area and 26 in Carroll County offering special deals this week.
5. Get Your Umbrella Out
The forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. with a high near 87 degrees, according to The National Weather Service.
