Five Things You Need to Know Today: June 5

Read these five things to stay on top of local news and get you prepared for the day.

1. Enjoy a family bike ride along the proposed route of the Freedom Trail starting at noon today. The travels through Springfield Hospital Center and into the Town of Sykesville. You can register at the rear Freedom Park pavilion. 

2. will hold its commencement exercises today at McDaniel College. The ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m. and Patch will be there.

3. Winters Mill High School will hold its tonight at McDaniel College. The ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m.

4.  is hosting a nature program to educate participants on how to identify animals by the tracks and traces left behind today at 10 a.m. The event is open to ages 5-9 and will include a hike through the park. 

5. There's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms and showers before noon today with a high near 86 degrees, according to The National Weather Service.
