Grab and Go Kids Planner: Model Train Display, Authors Event and more

Fun things to do around town with your family this weekend.

Patch offers ideas on events to put on your families weekend calendar. 

Below are five events to entertain you and your kids:

1.

Where/when: S&P Railway, Sykesville. Sunday, March 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Open houses are held once a month, this is your chance to visit and explore the G, O, HO, and N scale model train displays with your family.

Pricing: Admission is Free and donations are accepted.

 Where/when: A Likely Story Bookstore, Mainstreet, Sykesville. Saturday, March 5 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Meet Barbara Beadles and Kathleen Weller authors of the book "See Eye A: Case of the Blue Cast" the first book in a series for children.

Pricing: Free admission, books are available for purchase.

Where/when: Marriott, Hunt Valley. Sunday, March 6, performances will be held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Why go: Listen to the performances of students from across Maryland

Pricing: Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 per person.

Where/when: A Likely Story Bookstore, Main Street, Sykesville. Sunday, March 6 at 4 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy tea, scones, petite sandwiches, fruit and more in the high tea style while discussing the 2010 Newberry winner "When You Reach Me" by Rebecca Stead.

Pricing: $26.50 per person, includes the price of the book. Reservations are required, please call 410-795-1718.

Where/when: Carroll County Agriculture Center, Westminster. Friday, March 4 and Saturday March 5.

Why go: Watch participants in the 2011 VEX Robotics Championship competition. You and your children can watch the talented high school and middle school teams compete in the intense qualification matches and cheer on students as they face elimination matches and award ceremonies.
