Local Teen Wins Interview Award from Miss Maryland Teen USA Pageant

Liberty high school Sophomore Madeleine Johnson competed in the Miss Maryland Teen USA pageant over the weekend.

Madeleine Johnson, 15, of Eldersburg may not have brought home the crown, but she "wowed" the judges with her interviewing skills over the weekend at the Miss Maryland Teen USA pagaent in Bethesda.

The Liberty High School Sophmore won a special interview award for her poise during the questioning portion of the pageant.

Johnson also was awarded an honorable mention for her charity work, collecting 113 coats for Happy Helpers for the Homeless.

This isn't the road for Johnson according to her mother Donna who said, "she will be back competing next year for the crown - this was her first year in the Miss Teen USA system and she learned a lot."

Stephanie Chervenkov, 17, of Bel Air was crowned Miss Maryland Teen USA 2012.
