NWS Issues Winter Storm Watch for Carroll County

Saturday is shaping to be a messy day weather-wise, according to NWS.

Keep those shovels handy, parts of Maryland could see more snow this weekend.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northern Maryland from late tonight through late Saturday night. Areas expected to be impacted include Carroll County, Frederick County, and Northern Baltimore County.

Snow will develop late tonight into Saturday morning and continue through the day Saturday, according to NWS. Snow is expected to mix with and then change to sleet and freezing rain Saturday evening. Some areas could see five or more inches of snow, followed by the potential for small accumulations of ice.

NWS warns that hazardous travel conditions are expected from wintry precipitation. A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
