Piney Run Holds Annual Catfish Shootout

Piney Run Park was popular last weekend as local anglers took to the lake in friendly competition.

The Piney Run Catfish Shootout tournament held on Saturday, April 30 attracted many local anglers looking for the biggest fish. 

More than 65 anglers came out Saturday for the event sponsored by the Carroll County Commissioners through Recreation and Parks. 

The winners are as follows:

1st place - Cheryl Young of Frederick, MD. Her fish weighed in at 7.55 lbs pounds and was 25 inches long. Ms. Young won the big trophy and a check for $200.

2nd place -  Wayne Nonemaker of Hampstead, MD. His fish weighed 6.52 pounds and was 24 inches long. Mr. Nonemaker won a check for $150.

3rd place - Jamie Price of Finksburg, MD. His fish weighed in at 4.87 pounds and was 23 1⁄2 inches long. Mr. Price won a check for $100.
