Red, White and Blue Rule During Flag Day Celebration at Farm Museum
The Boy Scouts and county commissioners saw lots of red, white and blue Tuesday evening.
Kids were the experts Tuesday at the Farm Museum as Boy Scouts presented flag demonstrations.
The Carroll County District of the Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Carroll County Board of Commissioners celebrated Flag Day by kicking off the county's new Celebrate America initiative.
About 75 people were on hand as Boy Scout Troop 417 provided information and demonstrations on proper flag etiquette, including how to fold the flag, when to and not to fly a flag, and proper disposal methods. They also presented a flag retirement ceremony.

The event was the first of the commissioner's Celebrating America initiative which is designed to foster a greater understanding of American History, enhance community participation in patriotic events and support economic development through support of tourism by recognizing Carroll County as being at the “Center of History”.
"We are very pleased to be kicking off our Celebrating America task force," Commissioner Doug Howard said.

The Celebrating American initiative involves about 20 community organizations that will work to enhance the understanding and education of folks in history, civics and government, Howard said.
