Winter Storm Warning in Effect, Carroll County Could Get More Than 3 Inches of Snow

A winter storm warning is in effect from midnight tonight to 6 p.m. Saturday evening.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Carroll County starting midnight Friday evening to 6 p.m. Saturday night, according to The National Weather Service. Three to six inches of snowfall is expected. 

Rain is expected in Carroll County this evening changing over to snow tonight. During the predawn hours on Saturday into Saturday afternoon the heaviest snow will fall and will end by late afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 30's with winds northeast 5 to 15 mph with wind gusts up to 25 mph. 

Tonight in the Eldersburg area rain is expected before 4 a.m. Saturday followed by rain and snow, with a low of 34 degrees. Winds east between 6 and 8 mph. There is 100 percent chance of precipitation and the total nighttime snow accumulation is expected to be less than a half inch.

Saturday: Snow is expected before 2pm followed by a mix of rain and snow that could be heavy at times. There is a 100% chance of precipitation. The high temperature near 36 degrees with winds north between 13 and 17mph. Total snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible.

Saturday night: There is chance of snow before 8pm. Chance of precipitation is 30%. The early evening is expected to be cloudy with a gradual clearing. Winds north between 9 and 18mph. New snow accumulation is expected to be less than one inch. 

Sunday: Sunshine is expected with a high temperature of 44 degrees. Winds west between 3 and 6mph.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low temperature around 30 degrees.
