Snow Hits Carroll County

The National Weather Service forecasts snow and sleet for the area through Saturday.

The temperatures dropped to around 26 degrees late Friday evening as snow blanketed Carroll County.

The Carroll County Public School System has already canceled Saturday school for Jan. 21 with announcements for other school activities to happen later in the morning. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 1 p.m. Saturday, forecasting the snow to continue until around 2 a.m. when the precipitation will turn into freezing rain and sleet after 4 a.m.

Little or no ice accumulation is expected and total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of one to three inches is possible, according to NOAA. 

The freezing rain and sleet is forecast to continue until 10 a.m. Saturday with a chance of freezing rain between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a high near 35 degrees.
