Things to Do in Carroll County This Weekend: Nov. 4-6

Meet local authors, enjoy a bluegrass concert, have old paperwork shredded, run through the fall colors and shop for handmade holiday items in Carroll County.

The Carroll County Christmas Farmers Market at the Agriculture Center is hosting Author's Day featuring local authors. After stopping for a book signing, visit the health fair for free blood pressure and cholesterol screenings and enjoy wandering through the homemade baked goods and handmade crafts. The market takes place on Saturday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Common Ground on the Hill Concert Series presents bluegrass recording artist Sierra Hull in concert at the Carroll Arts Center on Saturday, November 5 at 8 p.m. The 19 year old artist performs on the mandolin and guitar while providing lead vocals for the bluegrass ensemble Sierra Hull & Highway 111. Ticket prices are $19, $17 for students, seniors and teens.

Gather anything paper, old documents, old bills, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, cd's, and credit cards and head over to the Free Shred Event sponsored by The Town of Sykesville. Shredding will take place onsite in the parking lot behind the Town House on Main Street on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Carroll County Recreation and Parks is holding a 5K Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is open to all ages and guides runners and walkers through the fall colors of Piney Run Park. Same day registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and fees are $30. 

The Oakland United Methodist Church's 28th Annual Christmas Bazaar takes place on Friday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shoppers have many items to choose from while wandering through the holiday bazaar. Handmade Christmas gifts, tree ornaments, pinecone baskets, silent auction items, baked goods and more are available for sale as well as an opportunity to take a break from shopping to enjoy a lite lunch.
