Things to Do in Carroll County This Weekend: Nov. 11-13

Honor Veterans, shop for holiday crafts, Run/Walk to benefit local groups, watch Alpacas compete and bounce to your hearts content.

The American Legion Post #31 is hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony at the Longwell Municipal Center gymnasium featuring speaker 1st Sergent James Saunders. After the rememberance service there will be a wreath laying at the City Hall grounds. The events take place on Friday, Nov. 11 beginning at 4 p.m.

Ascension Episcopal Church hosts the 38th Annual Mistletoe Mart featuring 50 juried artisans and craftspeople. Shop for pottery, stained glass, jewelry, baskets and more. Stop by and enter to win door prizes and a quilt raffle or take a break from shopping to enjoy a meal in the cafe or to sip on a cup of tea. The Mart is being held Friday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $1 for children under 12.

Join the City of Westminster Recreation and Parks Harvest Fun Run/Walk and 5K race at the Wakefield Valley Community Trail on Tahoma Farm Road on Nov. 12 beginning at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the fun run will benefit the Carroll Food Sunday Program and the Family Fitness Center Group Fitness Program. The registration fee for the 5K race is $15 and the 200 yard dash for ages 6 and under as well as the 1 mile fun run for ages 7 and over are free. Non perishable food items will be accepted for donation.

The Maryland Alpaca Breeder's Association is holding the third Alpaca Halter Show at the Carroll County Agriculture Center on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show features more than 400 Alpacas, hand made items, a fleece exhibit, a youth costume class, and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Hoppers Kidzone on Exchange Drive in Eldersburg is hosting their Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Kids are invited to have their picture taken with Hopper, enjoy bouncing, open play, munchies and more. Admission is free.
