Things to Do in Carroll County This Weekend: Dec. 9-11

Follow the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, watch the magic of the Nutcracker ballet, enjoy the sounds of a live holiday concert, sing Christmas Carols and visit with Santa.

Watch Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the spirits of Christmas past, present and future in a production of "A Christmas Carol" by the Maryland Ensemble Theatre. Shows will be held on Dec. 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for CCAC members, students 18 and under and seniors.

The Russian Ballet Academy of Maryland presents "The Nutcracker"

Enjoy visions of Sugar Plums as The Russian Ballet Academy of Maryland presents "The Nutcracker" ballet at Century High School. The production includes performances by Violeta Angelove, a soloist with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet and Michael Cook, a principal with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Performances will be held Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children and free for children under 5.

The United States Army Field Band is hosting a "Sound the Bells! Holiday Celebration" at Westminster High School. The Holiday concert is being held Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Tickets are required and available at the link above.

The Westminster Ringers, an auditioned community Maryland handbell ensemble, invite the public to an old fashioned Christmas sing-a-long in the Scott Center at Carroll Community College. The doors open at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10. Visit the link above for ticket information.

Stop by the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Station on Dec. 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a visit with Santa and a look at the fire and rescue apparatus. After a photo session with Santa head downstairs to view the 7th Annual Holiday Train Garden from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
