Things to Do in Carroll County This Weekend: Nov. 25-27

Burn unwanted calories, visit with Santa, shop for holiday gifts and bid on a decorated tree for charity.

Freedom Fitness is offering complimentary Cardio and Zumba Fitness classes to help burn those unwanted calories at the 2nd Annual Turkey Burn event. The classes will be held on Friday, Nov. 25 from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The class beginning at 9:15 a.m. will include a cardio interval workout with cardiovascular and weight training. At 11:15 a.m. a Zumba class featuring Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves will be held. Admission is free although Freedom fitness encourages participants to bring a $10 check or cash to donate to Carroll Food Sunday.

The 5th Annual Carroll County Festival of Trees is being held in the Belk Court at the TownMall of Westminster from Nov. 25 to Dec. 10 during regular mall hours. The festival includes more than 50 decorated themed trees available through a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Sheperd's Staff, a local non-profit organization helping people in need in Carroll County.

The Carroll County Christmas Farmers Market takes place Nov. 26 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy shopping for handmade crafts, fine art, baked goods and more while children have an opportunity to visit with Santa Claus. Admission is free.

The Miracle on Main Street event takes place Saturday, Nov. 26 beginning at 5 p.m. with Westminster's 3rd Annual Holiday Electric Parade featuring lighted floats, marching bands, horses, exotic cars, a visit from Santa Claus and more. After watching the parade head to Locust Lane for the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony followed by a children's event at the Westminster Family Fitness Center. Admission is free and activities include games, crafts, prizes and more.

Small Business Saturday

Gov. O'Malley encourages residents to "shop local" this weekend during the 2nd annual Small Business Saturday. Numerous local businesses are offering special deals in an effort to attract shoppers to buy nearby.
