Traffic Delays to Begin on Liberty, Wards Chapel Roads

The Maryland State Highway Administration plans to add a through lane at the intersection to improve safety and traffic operations.

 

The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin a $1.4 million construction project Monday to provide an additional, eastbound through lane on Liberty Road at Wards Chapel Road, according to the SHA.

Drivers heading west of Randallstown during off-peak hours should expect delays, with the following possible:

  • Single lane closures along Liberty Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday — Friday.
  • Single lane closures along Liberty Road overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday — Thursday.

The construction is part of a $2.6 million project to improve and resurface Liberty Road between Powells Run Road and Offutt Road. Construction is scheduled to be completed by early fall 2012, SHA said.

Crews may institute flagging operations at night for work on drainage pipes crossing underneath the highway, SHA said.

The goal is to improve safety and traffic operations along Liberty Road, which also serves as state Route 26.

SHA said Kibler Construction Company of Finksburg is the project's contractor.
