Vehicle Struck by Train in Carroll County

Manchester resident Michael Farrell, 46, was released from the hospital just hours after his car collided with a cargo train in Lineboro.

A Manchester man has been released from the hospital just hours after his car collided with a cargo train early Tuesday in Lineboro.

According to Major Phil Kasten, spokesman for the Carroll County Sheriff's Dept., 46-year-old Manchester resident Michael Farrell was traveling northbound on York Road #1 at the intersection of the CSX train tracks outside Lineboro when he made a right turn from the road at the railroad crossing, turning eastbound on the train tracks.

His 2002 Isuzu sports utility vehicle was then struck by an eastbound cargo train, which pushed the SUV several yards before coming to a stop.
