Westminster Celebrates 145th Memorial Day

Sunny weather welcomes parade and exercises.

Monday in Westminster, a tradition that is 145 years old played itself out again -- with the Memorial Day parade and exercises.

The parade was longer than in years past and drew a large crowd. When some of the marchers saw a veteran they would drop out of the parade and shake the veteran's hand and say thank you.

Commander Matthew W. Shipley gave the Memorial Day address at exercises in the Westminster Cemetery. He dropped by the Carroll County Vietnam Memorial after the address to say a few words.
