N.Y. Man Sentenced in Martin's Grocery Store Fatal Stabbing

Zamani Lawson pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

A man who admitted to stabbing his co-worker to death in Martin’s Market will spend three years in prison for voluntary manslaughter, according to court records. 

A Carroll County Circuit Court judge on Wednesday handed Zamani Lawson, 27, a 10-year sentence with seven years suspended in the June death of 22-year-old Bergari Zardiashuili, according to records. Lawson pleaded guilty earlier this year.

, according to the Maryland State Police. The two were working a night shift on June 19, police said, when they got into a fight just before midnight.

When police arrived at the scene, Lawson was in the front of the store with blood on his shirt. Police found Zardiashuili in a storage area with several stab wounds to his torso. He was flown to Carroll Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.
