JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra Community Meet and Greet

Back in the Summer of 2010, I came up with this idea of a "School of Rock" type of program that would give kids an opportunity to develop their musical talents, play upbeat popular music, and perform gigs like a real rock band, all to help benefit charitable causes.  He talked about fancy lights, big stages, and kids playing shows for hundreds of cheering fans.  While the beginnings were certainly modest, the goals and aspirations were grand.
Well, much has happened since those first discussions, and as I'm sure you're aware, the band completed a memorable 2011-2012 session year with a triumphant performance in front of hundreds of people in a special benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project this past July.  That show alone raised over $10,000 for that worthy cause - something that seemed almost impossible when the idea first came up about this time last year.
I'm writing today to invite you to a special "Meet & Greet" during the band's practice session time this coming Monday December 10th from 6-8 p.m. at Oklahoma Road Middle School.  Come hear a brief update on the progress and goals of our program, meet members of the Board and other JoeyDCares Parents and Friends, and listen in on a special practice session.  Light refreshments will be served, and it's our hope that you'll come away with a better understanding of the program, what we've accomplished so far, what lies ahead and how you can help.
The program has developed quickly thanks to the dedication of many people, but we need your help to make sure the JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra continues to be a unique addition to the roster of programs in the Freedom Area Recreation Council!
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you next Monday evening.
