SYKESVILLE –
“Sigh no more,” as the South Carroll High School Stagelighters present William
Shakespeare’s classic comedy “Much Ado About Nothing,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb.
6 through Saturday, Feb. 8, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

“Much Ado,”
is being directed by Caitlin Adolph and Marcia Franklin. Adolph most recently
directed “For the Love of Three Oranges,” at South Carroll, while Franklin has
directed the musicals “Cats” and “Anything Goes” at the school.

For this
production of the play, which focuses on love – young love and newfound love
between somewhat bitter rivals, Shakespeare’s words will be set during
Prohibition in the 1920s.

“We knew we
wanted to shake things up with this show – traditional Shakespeare is
wonderful, but it’s more fun to give the audience something new, which is why
we decided to set the show in the 20s. It also provides us the opportunity to
experiment with a unit set; the show is authentically Shakespearean in that it
will not have long scene changes, but also modern, incorporating new design and
lighting,” says Director Caitlin Adolph

Tickets for
the show are $10, $8 for students with a valid ID, and can be purchased online
at scstagelighters.com or at the door.
