CCPS Supervisor Receives Recognition from State Organization as Technology Leader in Education

As the recipient of this award, she is nominated for the International Society for Educational Technology Outstanding Technology Leader in Education Award.

Irene Hildebrandt, Supervisor of Library Media Services for Carroll County Public Schools, has been selected as the recipient of the Outstanding Technology Leader in Education Award presented by the Maryland Society for Educational Technology (MSET).

This award recognizes an educator outside the classroom who has made exemplary contributions to the implementation of technology in Maryland schools, supporting MSET’s mission to advance excellence in learning and teaching through innovative and effective uses of technology.

As the recipient of this award, she is nominated for the International Society for Educational Technology Outstanding Technology Leader in Education Award.

Hildebrandt has dedicated her professional career to the access and integration of technology to maximize student learning and achievement. According to Steven Johnson, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Carroll County Public Schools, “Irene is truly a visionary leader who has made a tremendous impact on our school system, challenging us to keep up with the changing times and needs of our students.”

In addition to her work within the school system, Hildebrandt takes an active role in many state and national organizations, including the MDK12 Digital Library, the Maryland Library Consortium, and the Maryland eBook Advisory Committee. She also is an active member of the Maryland Instructional Technology Advisory Council, state and national library associations, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Children’s Book Guild.

Hildebrandt will receive the award at the Common Ground 2013 Conference on Tuesday, April 23. She also will present a session entitled “Pulling It All Together” which describes how Carroll County Public Schools planned and implemented an online process for requesting and approving digital resources for use in curriculum and instruction.
