It's National Train Your Dog Month!

The holiday chaos is behind us - for now! What better time to make a new years resolution to train your dog! See inside for links, discounts, and free information.

The holidays are over, things are settling down ... well, as settled as they ever get! Did you get a new furry family member for the holidays? Or, do you have an existing dog who drove you crazy over the last few weeks? What better time to make a new years resolution to train your dog!

Did you know January is National Train Your Dog Month? Probably not! Not only is it a great time to enroll your dog or puppy in group classes or in-home training, but many local and national businesses are offering sales, discounts, and free information in honor of the month-long "holiday". Here's a few links for you to check out:

  • Train Your Dog Month: Official Website: Run by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), this site has loads of free information - including webinars!
  • My Dog Has C.L.A.S.S.: Also run by APDT, C.L.A.S.S. - which stands for Canine Life And Social Skills - is a new educational program that focuses on real life skills for dogs and their owners. Not only can you take C.L.A.S.S. dog training lessons, but you can also certify your dog in three different levels of Life and Social Skills!
  • Canine Sports: Is your dog already a model citizen? Why not sign up for a doggy sport with them! Some of our favorites are agility, freestyle, NoseWork, or Rally-O.
  • Group Classes: Just in time for Train Your Dog Month, Canine Lifestyle Academy is pleased to be starting group classes in Westminster! These classes are "rolling enrollment", which means you can start any time, go on vacation in the middle, and not miss out! If you sign up before the end of January and mention National Train Your Dog Month, you will get a $20 rebate on a block of 6 lessons.

Meghan is the owner of Canine Lifestyle Academy, LLC, a Sykesville dog training business which focuses on what dog owners really want - a dog that just behaves, without too much hassle! She lives in Sykesville with her fiance, and three wonderful dogs: Kyra and Marcus, three-year-old German Shepherd rescues; and Ember, one-year-old pit bull type mixed breed. You can find CLA's website at: www.caninelifestyleacademy.com
