Body Found Near Field in Northern Carroll County

The body was found in the Hampstead area, Maryland State Police reported.

Authorities are investigating after a man's body was found near a wooded area Friday morning in northern Carroll County, according to a statement from Maryland State Police.

At 8 a.m. on Friday, Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 3200 block of Falls Road in Hampstead, where a body was found on the border of a wooded area next to a grain field, the statement said.

Deputies confirmed that the man was deceased, according to the report, which said the body was near a gated access road.

The road leads to a cell phone tower where a crew had been working and discovered the body, the report said.

Crime scene technicians did not find any weapons, and investigators said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, police said.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy, which police said will provide the identity of the man as well as the cause and manner of death.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
